A lot of the suggestions so far have been pretty far away. With kids I don't think a long drive is all that amazing a way to start and finish a short holiday, so I'd sway towards some of the closer places (no further than Port Stephens or Nowra). Nowra can have great rental stability with the large jail, multiple defence bases and some large industrial manufacturers located around there. Those prices are a little low for the Nowra area, but I couldn’t recommend a better place to live in terms of distance to Sydney and future potential. Geographically Nowra is a very pretty place. Leaf in Nowra is epic for Thai/Japanese, Kohli's for Indian, Deli on Kinghorne great cafe (but lots of other good ones too), Flame pizza in North Nowra, Hyper Hyper best coffee you'll ever taste. The region around Nowra is beautiful farming country with a strong dairy industry and a number of State forests but is also increasingly a tree-change/sea change retirement and leisure area for Canberra and Sydney. You are basically the biggest bunch of cunts I have ever met in my life. It is effectively a regional capital with commerce and shopping to match. Sending hate. The area is surrounded by some of the most expensive and nicest natural tourist destinations (Jervis Bay, Kiama, Berry, Bowral, Kangaroo Valley) + Wollongong is less than an hour away.
